When was the last you did something for the first time?

Well for me that was TODAY!

I’m 24 and I want to make a difference in my world, so today I set myself the challenge of doing something out of the ordinary for someone who I’ve never met before.

It’s funny because I decided I was simply going to pay for another person’s lunch while on my break at work. “Simple task” you say! Well… it’s surprising how much courage it actual takes to break a social norm and step into real life generosity.

As the moment approached my heart was racing, for everyone around me this was just another check out at Morrison’s, for me it was new era in my life.
I wanted to laugh and cry all at the same time, but I knew this was my moment.

I carefully checked out the contents of the basket behind me in the line, I over estimated the cost and then got my money ready. When I had paid for my ‘meal deal’ I quietly told the cashier I was going to pay for the shopping of the person behind me. Slightly confused she agreed to help me so I handed her the money and an ‘ilovemygen’ business card to give to the shopper.

I then made a sharp exit for the door, leaving kindness in my wake and travelling back to work on cloud nine!!
WOW!! That was one of the best things I have ever done! I can’t explain the feeling of doing something simply for someone else. No payback… No opportunity for thanks… No strings attached! I was buzzing for the rest of the day, forget the Cinema or new cloths, this was the best money I’ve ever spent.
